Neuroscience, Yoga, & Mindfulness Certification

New brain imaging technologies now enable scientists to see directly into our brain & observe how meditation & yoga practices positively shape our neurobiology & neurochemistry.  This workshop focuses on providing a didactic, experiential, & applied understanding of the neurobiological impact of the yoga and mindfulness practices.  It is designed to help deepen your understanding of how & why Yoga works. Yoga Therapy and mindfulness practices will be taught and will be looked at through the lens of current neuroscience research & polyvagal theory.

We know that the yoga practices enhance resiliency, optimism, self-regulation, health status & mood states.  This workshop will provide:  1) an overview of Affective Neuroscience and how this field supports & aligns with the field of Yoga Therapy,   2) a foundational understanding of neuroscience theory & research and how yoga & meditation impacts on brain chemistry, plasticity & mood management, 3) experiential opportunities for understanding & applying specific asanas, breathing, meditation, & cognitive revamping through a combined lens of yoga & neuroscience, and 4) how polyvagal theory can be applied to yoga therapy treatment options.
